Chandon India, Manish Malhotra join hands to launch limited edition collection

Marrying French savoir-faire with local craft, Chandon has announced signing ace designer Manish Malhotra to up the ante on all things celebratory, festive and spontaneous this festive season.

The bubbly brand, which has decided to bring on board the game changer of Bollywood and Indian fashion, highlighted that Manish will work towards designing limited edition bottles for Chandon Brut, the hero in the portfolio of three (Chandon Rose and the recently launched Chandon Delice make up the other two variants), in his signature glamorous style and in time for the upcoming festive season.

With an iconic legacy of Hindi film costumes and an eponymous 12-year-old couture label, Manish has been a true fashion inspiration for generations of Indians all over the world.

Chandon x Manish Malhotra will present beautiful renditions of Manish's designs on the bottles that have been inspired by the gardens of Versailles and link back to Indian traditional garments (the sherwani and the saree) that are synonymous with Manish's quintessential style. From luxurious gold motifs over a midnight sky background - reminiscent of the sherwani, to a spritz of pink and rose gold-stemmed florals draping the bottle - like that of a gorgeous saree - the bottles are a perfect addition to all your end of year celebrations.

"Well, I've always liked Chandon so when the brand approached me to design the sleeves for their end of Year limited edition - I was looking forward to it. Also, both are like minded brands which represent an evolving India - one that speaks of an international lifestyle, yet tied into Indian tradition just like the two limited edition bottles," Manish Malhotra told ANI in an email conversation.

Adding to this the ace designer said, "This is one of the collaborations that does not directly link back to fashion. This made it exciting and challenging as well. It was really interesting to learn nuances of how my designs would go through state-of-the-art processes and then be fitted on bottles of Chandon Brut."

Expressing his delight over what he finds exciting about Chandon, Manish said, "Four years of Chandon in India, the relevance of this partnership and the influence that brings you to design these bottles. This collaboration with Chandon promises to be an interesting one given it's outside the realm of clothes! The limited edition bottles are the beautiful result of a unique fashion story - where old-world glory meets contemporary, global influences."

"I have created two distinct designs for the bottles - one depicting the details on a Sherwani and the other celebrating the Sari. In keeping with Chandon's French legacy, my inspiration was marrying French culture with Indian by integrating gardens of Versailles and Indian architecture," he added.

"My relationship with India is fairly new but we all know that India is known for its vibrant festivities, celebrations (especially Diwali and weddings) and of course, Hindi films. Manish beautifully stitches these together for Chandon. We are very happy with this collaboration and excited as this is the first for both," said managing director Moet Hennessy India, Stephane de Meurville.

"From the fantastic world of Hindi films to the splendor of couture, Manish Malhotra has spun myriad reams of magic for 26 years. For us, Chandon X Manish Malhotra is the coming together of two likeminded brands which represent an evolving India - one that speaks of an international lifestyle, yet tied into Indian tradition just like the two limited edition bottles," said senior marketing manager, Chandon India, Sophia Sinha.

With the festive season blooming in full fervor, Manish also advised his followers to be experimental!

"Yes, classic is great but with newer silhouettes and fabrics - a simple outfit can also make you exude elegance. So try and opt for different colors, crafts and silhouettes - something which is traditional at its root and yet contemporary. Be playful with colors by mixing in different palates such as shades of beige, ivory, maroon, etc. Pick outfits that you know will make you feel more confident and that will suit your personal style," he added.
