Palestinian PM Rami Hamdallah survives assassination attempt in Gaza

On Tuesday while Palestinian prime minister, Rami Hamdallah was visiting the Gaza Strip for inaugurating a long-awaited sewage plant project in the northern part of the strip, an explosion went off. Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah was unharmed.

The ruling Fatah called it an assassination attempt. They blamed the Gaza’s Islamic Hamas rulers. Calling it cowardly attack, tension further escalated between the rival factions.

Windows of three vehicles in Hamdallah’s convoy were blown out and one of the vehicles had blood stains as well.

The PM was there to inaugurate the sewage plant which was envisioned in 2007 after overburdened sewage reservoirs collapsed, killing five villagers.

This ambitious project has received funding from the World Bank, European Union, and other European governments. Nearly $75 million funds.

In 2007, the Hamas party took over Gaza from the Palestinian Authority. It has been four years since the project has been delayed.
