Naqeebullah murder case: Absconding police officer, Rao Anwar arrested after surprise Supreme Court appearance

On Wednesday, the suspended SSP Malir Rao Anwar was arrested over the Supreme Court orders. He was charged with the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud an aspiring model popular on social media. He was absconding over a month and was last seen at Islamabad airport on January 23. He was trying to abscond on a Dubai-bound flight.

Supreme Court had given a deadline for his arrest but he had not turned up. However, after SC targeted those providing shelter to Anwar, he appeared before the three-judge bench on Wednesday, which wasn't expected and many were taken by surprise.

While the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar was hearing the suo motu case, Anwar appeared out of blue.
Wearing a surgical mask, he entered the courtroom and asked for a protective bail. But, the CJP refused the plea and gave arrest orders.
