Lockdown: Women delivers baby on roadside as she walked from Telangana to Chhattisgarh

A migrant women worker was compelled to give birth to her baby on the road as she walked home from Telangana to Chhattisgarh because of the nationwide lockdown .

The pregnant women was travelling with her family from the Sangareddy district to her native village Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh by foot.

While walking on National Highway-44, the women started under going labour pain and was helped by her husband and other women in the group to bear a baby boy.

The woman, who was a migrant worker delivered her baby at the Japthi Shivanur village of Narsingi Mandal at around 4 am on Tuesday.

After the incident came to light, the local sub-inspector offered help to the group of migrant workers and shifted the mother and the baby to a nearby hospital.

Both mother and the baby are healthy and have been admitted at the government hospital in Ramayanpet of Medak district and will be shifted later to a better facility.

The woman's husband stated that they walked for about 70 km from Hyderabad when she went through labour and later delivered the baby on the road.

The couple already has a 3-year-old son who was also walking along with them in the coronavirus nationwide lockdown.
