I Support CAA: MP couple's wedding card displays solidarity for Citizenship Law; see pic

At a time while protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizenship (NRC) are going on, a couple from Madhya Pradesh came in a unique way to show their support to the newly enacted Citizenship Law.

As per a report by news agency ANI, the couple showed their solidarity with the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre by printing the CAA on their wedding invitation cards and creating awareness towards the Citizenship Act.

The newly married couple in MP's Narsinghpur tied the knot on January 18 this year. Shoeing their support to the CAA they printed their act on their wedding cards.

"I want to spread awareness about the Citizenship Law. I want people to understand the facts about the newly enacted law," Prabhat, the groom told to ANI.

Similarly, another couple in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh also displayed their solidarity with the government for NRC and CAA.

The couple-- Mohit Mishra and Sonam Pathak, who are getting hitched on February 3, have put a Hindi line in bold letters on their wedding invite 'We support CAA and NRC.'

Worth mentioning here, protests had erupted across the country after the implementation of CAA.

The act grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh and who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.

The NRC is a register maintained by the government containing names and certain relevant information for the identification of all genuine Indian citizens. On the apex court's order, the NRC identified illegal immigrants from Assam.

Though this has been a state-specific exercise to keep its ethnic uniqueness unaltered. Since its implementation, protests have erupted in several parts of the country.
