Fugitive Vijay Mallya tweets again, attacks PM Modi government: 'Suits BJP to say I ran away'

Fugitive Liquor baron has again hit out at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government for saying that he ran away from the country, ignoring the fact that he has been a UK resident since 1992.

Taking to Twitter Mallya slammed the Modi government saying, “I humbly submit that my assertion that I am a poster boy is fully vindicated by the PM’s own statement about me (by name)that his Govt has recovered more than what I allegedly owe the Banks. Fact that I have been a UK resident since 1992 ignored. Suits the BJP to say I ran away,” Vijay Mallya tweeted Sunday morning.

Fugitive liquor Vijay Mallya also said that he watched PM Narendra Modi’s interview where he mentioned that the BJP government has confirmed that they fully recovered what he (Mallya) owed the banks, but still the party spokespersons continue to target him over it.

"Saw PM Modi’s interview in which he takes my name and says that even though I owe Rs 9,000 crore to banks, his government has attached my assets worth Rs 14,000 crore," Vijay Mallya said.

"So, the highest authority has confirmed full recovery. Why do BJP spokesmen continue their rhetoric?" Mallya tweeted.

The 62-year-old Vijay Mallya is wanted in India for defaulting on Rs. 9,000 crore in loans to his failed Kingfisher Airlines. He is on bail on an extradition warrant executed by Scotland Yard in April 2017. Mallya fled India to the United Kingdom in March 2016.
