Amid coronavirus lockdown, Indians will commemorate the Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Jayanti 2020 on April 14. Due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country, people won’t be able to celebrate the day as they used to do earlier in a bid to prevent the gathering at public places. However, the Central government on Wednesday announced Ambedkar Jayanti or the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar as a national holiday.

As you all have heard or read that Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was the first law minister and was also the lawyer, politician and academic of independent India. Besides this, he was a highly educated man with several degrees.

He was having two master's degrees, Bar-at-Law, had four doctoral degrees. Besides knowing quite a few Indian languages including Sanskrit, Dr. Ambedkar also knew several European languages.

Interestingly, he was the first person from South Asia who had been conferred a Degree of Ph.D. in Economics.

At the age of 24, he wrote his paper on ‘Castes in India- Their Mechanism, Genesis, and Development.” He also challenged in his paper to many well-known scholars who had already written papers on caste.
