Chandrayaan 2 latest update: ‘Orbiter performing very well’, says K Sivan

Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO chief K Sivan on Thursday announced the latest update about Chandrayaan 2 orbiter in an event held in Ahmedabad.

According to the reports of ANI, Sivan said: “Chandrayaan-2 orbiter is doing very well. All payload operations have commenced, it's doing extremely well. We have got no signal from lander but orbiter is working very well. A national-level committee is now analyzing what went wrong with the lander.”

While speaking at the event Sivan also said that national-level committee is looking into the issue about what happened wrong with the Chandrayaan-2 lander Vikram that lost the communication with Earth during its descent on to the lunar surface on September 7.

Sivan also revealed about ISRO’s next missions that have been lined up for coming years i.e. mission to the Sun, sending humans to space on an Indian spacecraft, and also working on a rocket to launch small satellites.

Since 7 September, Vikram lander lost its connection with ISRO. The scientists who were working on the Chandrayaan-2 tried to re-establish the communication but it was ended on September 21, as lander's working duration was only for 14 days.
