MS Dhoni's childhood coach claims his parents don't want to see him in India's jersey anymore

In the thick of on-going speculations on MS Dhoni’s retirement, former captain’s childhood coach Keshav Banerjee has given Sports Tak an insight on MS Dhoni’s retirement decision. Banerjee who is a native of Ranchi has stated that MS Dhoni’s parents don’t want him to be seen in the blue jersey anymore.

Following team India’s exit from the World Cup after their semi final loss against the Kiwis, rumours have surfaced that Dhoni would call it a day after the last game against New Zealand.

Although, MS Dhoni or the selectors hasn’t come up with any official statement regarding MSD’s retirement, but Keshav Banerjee in an interview with SportsTak, has unveiled that he had visited Mahi’s old home on Sunday, where his parents live. And Dhoni’s parents felt that time has come for Dhoni to retire.

“Dhoni’s parents told me that the entire media is saying that he should retire, and we feel they’re right. They said we can’t handle this big property anymore,” Banerjee said.

Kashav Banerjee further added that he told Mahi’s parents to handle Dhoni’s issue for one more year. “You’ve handled it for so long – around 10 to 12 years. You can do it another year.”

In conclusion, Kashav Banerjee said that he requested Dhoni’s parents to let the veteran wicket keeper batsman play for another year till the 2020 World Cup T20, which will be held in Australia.

Going into the ICC World Cup 2019, the men in blue were one of the favourites to win the premier event, India played eleven matches, including the semi final against the Kiwis, they won seven games, lost two matches and went through one wash out. Regardless of their defeat to the host England, India still managed to top the points table with 15 points from nine matches.
