India vs West Indies: MS Dhoni scores slowest half-century in 16 years

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is known for his fearless batting style, ironically scored the slowest half-century of his career in the fourth ODI against West Indies at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on 2 July.

India was tasked to chase a small target of 189 runs set by the Caribbean and surprisingly the men-in-blue fell like a deck of cards and lost the match by 11 runs.

It was the 46th over when Dhoni scored a single run off the first ball to complete his 50 runs off 108 balls. Dhoni's half-century is the slowest fifty scored in ODIs in last 16 years by any Indian.

The former Indian captain Dhoni's knock of 54 runs off 114 balls included 1 four and no sixes. His strike rate was 47.36. The right-handed batsman couldn't keep up with the rising run rate as the wickets were falling on regular interval on the other end of the crease.

The visiting was bundled at the score of 178 in 49.4 overs.

Chasing the target, only Ajinkya Rahane (60 off 91 balls) apart from Dhoni got to his half-century.

WI Skipper Jason Holder scalped five wickets and was declared 'Man of the Match'.
