India have made a big World Cup mistake: ex-England captain Michael Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan said that he is surprised that team India have not included Rishabh Pant in their 15-member World Cup squad. Rishabh Pant was a regular part of team India line-up over the past year.

Pant was omitted from India’s World Cup squad last month and Dinesh Karthik was chosen as the reserve wicket-keeper batsman. Pant became a household name after his performances in the Indian Premier League 2018. Cricket pundits were expecting Pant to be in the World Cup squad but after BCCI announced the team it came as a surprise for everyone.

Michael Vaughan took to his official Twitter account to India's World Cup selection. Vaughan wrote, "How is @RishabPant777 not in the World Cup squad...... Pretty sure #India still have time to change........!!!!! #Bonkers #IPL19."

“I think India have made a big mistake,’ Michael Vaughan said on BBC Radio 5 Live. ‘Looking at India’s batting line-up, they’re all right-handers except for Shikhar Dhawan.”

“I think they need a different combination and Pant is a firecracker. He will make mistakes but as we’ve seen in the IPL, he gets it right more often than not,” Vaughan added.

Pant has scored 450 runs from 15 innings and has the highest score of 78 not-out. Pant has 3 fifty to his name and his average is 37.50. Rishabh Pant was the second highest run scorer in IPL 2018 with 684 runs from 14 innings. Pant slammed 5 fifties and 1 hundred with the highest score of 128 not-out.

Delhi Capitals won the eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rishabh Pant played a crucial knock of 49 runs to take Delhi to qualifier 2.
