Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur after India clash, says 'I wanted to commit suicide'

It was for the seventh time in the history of World Cup that India got better of Pakistan, this time Pakistan were defeated by 89 runs through DLS method in Manchester on June 16, which was also the highest win margin ever.

After more then a week till defeat, Pakistan head coach Mickey Arther came out in public and said that he wanted to commit suicide after the humiliating defeat against the arch foes India, espicially after the backlash from the fans.

Coming after Pakistan’s win against South Africa where Proteas were forced to make an early exit from the World Cup, Aurther made an appearance for the post match press conference. Where he lambasted the critics for picking on the team and revealed how bad its affect would be.

“It happens so quickly, you lose a game, you lose another game, it’s a World Cup, the media scrutiny, public expectations, and then, you almost go into survival mode. I mean, we’ve all been there. Last Sunday, I wanted to commit suicide,”Arthur said.

“I just think the guys were burnt last week (after the India match). The guys were incredibly hurt by media, by public, by social media, and hopefully we got a proper reaction from them today that can just shut some people up for a little while,” added Authur.

After defeat to India, Pakistani cricket fans rosted the national team, social media were flooded with messages and videos criticising the players, and urging the team to perform better. Some of the fans even went on to body shame the skipper Sarfarz Ahmed.

Pakistan will play their next match against New Zealand this afternoon at Edgbaston.
