Former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja reveals why India-Pakistan semi-final would've been better

Not impressed by New Zealand’s performance in their semi-finals clash against team India, former Pakistan skipper Ramiz Raja feels that Pakistan cricket team would have made the match more entertaining.

The men in blue defeated Pakistan by 89 runs through Duckworth Lewis Stern (DLS) method in the league stage of the ICC World Cup 2019 on June 16th.

Notwithstanding that Pakistan went on to win their next four matches after that defeat, which was against South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, they failed to book their spot in the semi finals as the Kiwis had a better net run rate than them.

New Zealand ended up beating India by 18 runs and therefore booked their place in the final, where they will either face Australia or the host England, depending on which team wins their semi final match at Edgbaston today.

“It was a pretty sour performance from New Zealand in such a big match, one can understand why Pakistani fans are angry because if Pakistan was playing against India in the semis, the world would have stopped to see the match and the eyeballs would [have been] glued to see the encounter,” he was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder.

“Pakistani fans also add to the color of the tournament, whereas there were hardly any New Zealand fans present in the match,” Ramiz Raja added.
