After VVS Laxman, this veteran player opposes MS Dhoni's place in Virat Kohli's squad

With India's loss in the second T20 International by 40 runs against New Zealand at the Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium in Rajkot on 4 November, the talk about Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement has once again started. In the second T20I, the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni joined Indian captain Virat Kohli at the score of 67/4 in 9.1 over.

Even though MS Dhoni scored 49 runs for India yet the Indian team was not able to take the charge of match once Mitchell Santner got rid of Virat Kohli.

After India lost the match it was widely discussed among the experts as well the fans of cricket whether MS Dhoni should take retirement from T20 or not.

Earlier, the veteran Indian player VVS Laxman had opposed wicket-keeper batsman's place in Indian T20 squad, now Ajit Agarkar while talking to ESPNcricinfo said that MS Dhoni takes time in before hitting the big shots.

"If he (Dhoni) started to hit the ball from the word go, then India were in with a chance. But that has been his problem for a while now and not just in this match. Over the last few games, we have seen that he takes a little bit of time but in T20 cricket, there is hardly any time. I heard people say that he should bat at a different number, but he came into bat in the 10th over in this match. How many time you get to bat 10 overs in T20 cricket and in my opinion, there was enough time." Agarkar stated.

"I think India must now look at other options, at least in T20Is. In one-day cricket, they seem to be happy with the role that he is playing. When you were the captain of the side, it was different. But just as a batsman, will India miss him, I don't think so. In T20 cricket, it is a lot easier to make that transition as there is a lot of experience in that team apart from MS Dhoni now," he further said.

With India's defeat in the second T20I now the third match, the series decider, would be interesting to watch at Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
