If you are willing to change your Permanent Account Number (PAN), a ten-digit unique alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department, then you can do that by following some easy steps.

PAN Card is an important financial document which one has to provide during bank-related and it can be used as valid ID proof for a host of services.

If you have got married recently and want to change your surname and the address mentioned on your PAN card then you can change it online by paying a nominal fee.

Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a ten-digit unique alphanumeric number issued by the Income Tax Department. The laminated plastic card popularly known as the PAN card is an important financial document.

According to NSDL, Permanent Account Number (PAN) can’t be changed. Changing the address though may change the Assessing Officer.

Therefore, such changes must be initiated to Income Tax Department so that the PAN database of ITD can be updated.

A person who wants to change the address in the PAN card can do this by filling up the form of Request for New Pan Card or/ and Changes or Correction in PAN data.

Applicants can submit the form at any TIN-FC or online at NSDL e-Gov – TIN website.

Follow the step to change surname and address in PAN card after marriage:

1. Visit the official website at https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html.
2. Fill the application form
3. Select Changes or Correction in PAN data option
4. Submit your details asked on the form
5. Enter the Captcha Code
6. Click on Submit button

Fees details for changing the address or surname on PAN Card

PAN cardholders require to pay Rs 110 as fees for changing the address or surname on PAN Card. In case, the PAN cardholder wants the address that he or she wishes to change is out of India, then the fee would be Rs 1,020.

After completing the fee payment, the user will have to download and fill the PAN application form and attest two passport size photographs on the duly signed form. The application form will be sent to Income Tax PAN Services UNIT (Managed by NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Limited) to NSDL Address.
