Geeta credits Dangal for getting a show like Khatron Ke Khiladi

Wrestler Geeta Phogat is one of the contestants in Khatron Ke Khiladi this season. Geeta confesses that she doesn’t enjoy limelight much and wishes to open her own wrestling academy in future.

Talking about why she chose to take up this show she says, “I have just started working out post my shoulder surgery. I have put on some weight post the release of the film as my schedule went for a toss. I used to attend events for promotions. So I will have to reduce it before going to Spain. I have not played any adventures sports.”

She agrees that success of Dangal which is based on her life has made difference to her career and says, “It is true that people have started recognising me after Dangal’s release. People knew that Geeta and Babita are wrestlers but they still didn’t know us by our faces. I was also offered Nach Baliye but I could not do it because it was time consuming. They wanted me to give 2-3 months and it wouldn’t have been possible for me to give them that much time. So I opted out of it.”

Does she feel pressure of performing stunts, since she is considered one of the strongest contenders in the show, “I have no pressure of performing stunts because I am a strong person. Although it is not my field because wrestling is completely different than what I am going to do in the show. But I will make sure that I will give my 100% to it.”

How do you handle criticism, “I get angry when people start passing comments about me or my work? I think that there are so many types of people in this world. And then leave it at that.”
