Video: Convenience store hangs off the side of a cliff

This tiny wooden shed perched on a steep cliff, hanging 394 feet above the ground, has earned the nickname - 'most inconvenient convenience store' in China.

This two-square-meter shop provides climbers with drinks and light refreshments in the Shiniuzhai Scenic Area in the Chinese province of Hunan.

Scaling Challenges: The Via Ferrata Adventure

According to CNN, the convenience store is located along an 800-meter via ferrata route. Via ferrata – Italian for “iron way” – is a pathway along a mountain that uses metal anchors and other structures that climbers can fasten themselves to as they make their way up and across challenging terrain.

Complimentary Refreshments

The ascent to the summit typically requires approximately 90 minutes to finish, and every climber is entitled to receive a complimentary water bottle from the Shiniuzhai store, as reported by Song Huizhou, the general manager, in an interview with China Daily.

Store Staff's Daily Haul

Moreover, Huizhou noted that the store's dedicated staff ensures the daily transportation of essential supplies.

An unidentified worker, as mentioned in a report by Beijing Youth Daily, a state-affiliated publication, disclosed that the staff diligently carry numerous bottles of beverages in their backpacks up the hill every day, with each bottle being sold at a price ranging from 5 to 7 yuan, which is equivalent to less than $1.
