Here is a disappointing news for the fans of Malayalam actor Mohanlal. The actor's 2016 Onam blockbuster can't be compete for National awards race thanks to it's director Priyadarshan. Written-directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Antony Perumbavoor, the thriller was released on September 7 last year to positive response from the audience and critics alike.

However, despite winning audience appreciation, and bagging best actor/director/film awards at Kerala Film Critic Awards, the Lalettan starrer can't compete for the upcoming National awards race. Unfortunately for the Mohanlal fans, Priyadarshan has appointed as head of the jury on this year's National awards and as according to the rules, members of the jury cannot have their films compete for any category at National awards.

Priyadarshan stated he is happy with his new responsibility as head of jury.

“I am definitely excited and happy and it’s going to be a big responsibility bestowed on me. I will do my best," said the 60 year old director of 91 films including Malayalam, Bollywood and Tamil films.
