While Prime Minister Modi delivered his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort, people in Assam braved floods to show their patriotism.

According to the latest reports, more than 31 lakh people have been affected by floods in 25 districts of Assam, with around 3,192 villages under water and 1.79 lakh hectares of crop area damaged. Despite this, Assamese people showed their patriotism by celebrating Independence Day despite the terrible situation prevailing in the state.

The flooding, which has already claimed over 100 lives, proved unable to deter Assamese people from hoisting the Tricolour, and singing the national anthem. The images, which went viral on social media, show people partially submerged in water, but still saluting the flag.
