We shouldn't point fingers at each other: Pak Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar after SAARC meet

Amid reports of ongoing animosity amongst Indian and Pakistan leaders at the 7th SAARC meet held in Islamabad, Pakistan Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, on 4 August said India and Pakistan should talk out issues rather than pointing fingers at each other.

"We should not just point fingers at each other and then go our ways, we should sit and talk out issues. Pakistan is always ready for talks, we never closed our doors," ANI quoted Pakistan Interior Minister.

With Home Minister Rajnath Singh raising issues including the Pathankot air base attack and terrorism, Chaudhary asserted that no country should hide behind terrorism and divert attention from the demands of freedom.

Responding to reports of skipping lunch with his Indian counterpart, Chaudhry Nisar said, "Indian Home Minister told me that he will attend the official lunch If I am attending, but unfortunately I had another meeting,"

Rajnath Singh skipped a lunch hosted by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan after the host himself left the venue.

Khan had organised the lunch for the visiting dignitaries, who were here to attend the 7th SAARC Interior/Home Ministers' conference, and had scheduled it after the main meeting.

However, the Pakistani Interior Minister left the venue immediately after the meeting, despite being the host. Singh then took the decision to skip the lunch and left for India.

The ongoing strain in Indo-Pak relations was reportedly evident at the SAARC Interior/Home Ministers' conference in Pakistan when Singh came face-to-face with Khan for the first time and the two leaders barely shook hands.
