A senior Al-Qaeda leader in Syria who previously operated in Afghanistan is reportedly killed in a US military strike.
Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook announced that the Al-Qaeda figure Abu Afghan al-Masri, was involved in attacks on the United States and had joined Al-Qaeda around seven years ago, Associated Press reported.
Cook further informed that the strikes took place near Sarmada in northwestern Syria on 18 November strike near Sarmada in northwestern Syria targeted Abu Afghan al-Masri, Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said.
"This is someone who helped organize al-Qaida activities and was directly affiliated with senior leaders there as well, and this is someone who's been on our radar for some time," AP quoted Cook as saying.
