South Korea on Friday announced to use the government funds to financially support North Korea's participation in the upcoming PyeongChang Paralympics.

An inter-Korean cooperation fund of 1, 21,370 US dollar was approved by a government deliberative committee called the Unification Ministry to help South Korea pay the Paralympic bills.

As per the Yonhap News agency, the fund will cover the costs of accommodation and goods required by the North Korean delegation throughout the Paralympics tournament.

A 24-member North Korean delegation, including athletes and officials, arrived in South Korea on Wednesday to attend the games, which will begin later Friday.

The Paralympics are to begin on Friday as the flag-bearing ceremony for the event is underway at PyeongChang.

North Korea sent a 20-member delegation to South Korea to participate in the Paralympics event.

In February North and South Korea agreed to field a joint women's ice hockey team and also march together under a unified Korea flag at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

The Paralympics will take place from February 8 to 25.
