Pakistan: New bride accidentally kills 13 in-laws after failed attempt to poison husband

In a failed bid to poison her husband, a new bride ended up killing 13 in-laws accidentally in Pakistan's Punjab province. It has been reported that the woman was forced to marry against her will.

According to media reports, while 13 members of the family have lost their lives, 14 others have fallen sick.

The woman, identified as Asiya Bibi tied the knot with Amjad from Daulat Pur area in Muzaffargarh nearly a month ago. The wedding did not take place with her consent. She returned her home after getting married, but she was forced go back to her husband's home after a little while.

Asiya decided to poison her husband and intoxicated milk in order to do so. The events didn't unfold as per her plan and poisoned milk was later used to make lassi. While the husband didn't consume the poisoned milk, the lassi was taken by many family members.

The police is investigating all the angles related to the crime as they suspect that some other person may have helped Asiya in carrying it out.

The woman has been arrested by the police.

It is being speculated that it was Asiya's alleged lover who gave her the poison.

At the initial stages, it was suspected that milk was poisoned because of a lizrad, but the woman has reportedly confessed to her crime.
