McDonald has fired its Chief Executive Steve Easterbrook on Sunday after he violated company’s policy by having a consensual relationship with an employee.

The company has said in a release that the company found that Easterbrook has broken policy by engaging in the love relationship.

Former president and CEO Steve Easterbrook demonstrated poor judgment, said snack food giant release.

However, McD didn’t provide many details on the relationship of Easterbrook with an employee.

The fast-food giant also mentioned in a release that Easterbrook will be replaced by USA President Chris Kempczinski, 51, effective immediately.

As per the McDonald’s policy, an employee should not have romantic relationships with direct and indirect subordinates.

Also, Easterbrook had acknowledged in an email that he had a relationship with an employee and said it was a mistake, reports said.

“Given the values of the company, I agree with the board that it is time for me to move on,” Easterbrook said in the email.

Reportedly, a board of directors of McD voted on Easterbook’s departure Friday after conducting a thorough review. On the other hand, details of Easterbook’s separation package will be released Monday in a federal filing, according to the company’s spokesman.

Easterbrook will also leave his position from the company’s board. Notably, he was McDonald’s CEO since 2015.
