Malaysian oil tanker ship carrying 9,00,000 litres of diesel hijacked

A Malaysian oil tanker carrying 9,00,000 litres of diesel has been reportedly hijacked and is believed to have been taken to waters off the Indonesian island of Batam.

According to media reports, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) issued a statement claiming that the ship, Vier Harmoni, has been located in the waters off Batam.

The MMEA is yet to confirm the identity of the hijackers.

The ship, which sailed from the Tanjung Pelepas port in Malaysia was carrying diesel with an estimated value of 1.57 million ringgit (Rs 2.6 crore approximately).
