Former US President George Herbert Walker Bush passed away at the age 94. Late US President Bush helped steer America through the end of the Cold War and forged a global coalition to oust Iraqi forces from Kuwait is no more, his family announced late Friday. George H.W. Bush was the 41st U.S. president and the  father of the 43rd US President.

"Jeb, Neil, Marvin, Doro and I are saddened to announce that after 94 remarkable years, our dear Dad has died," his son, former president George W. Bush, said in a statement released on Twitter by a family spokesman.

"George H.W. Bush was a man of the highest character and the best dad a son or daughter could ask for."

Former US President Barack Obama paid his tribute to George Bush Senior and said America has lost a patriot and humble servant in George Herbert Walker Bush.

"America has lost a patriot and humble servant in George Herbert Walker Bush. While our hearts are heavy today, they are also filled with gratitude. Our thoughts are with the entire Bush family tonight – and all who were inspired by George and Barbara’s example," he tweeted.

George HW Bush was the last veteran of World War II to serve as president. He died at the age of 94 on November 30, also marked the passing of an era. Although Mr. Bush served as president three decades ago, his values and ethic seem centuries removed from today’s acrid political culture.
