At least 13 killed, 30 injured in bomb blast at an election rally in Afghanistan's Kama district. An Afghanistan government official said a suicide bomber has struck an election rally in Kama district.

A suicide bomber detonated his explosives at an election campaign rally of a parliamentary candidate in Nangarhar province on Tuesday afternoon.

Attahullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, said some of the injured are critical in condition, which increases concerns that the death toll could rise further.

“Elders were speaking at the meeting when there was suddenly a huge blast,” said Sayed Humayoun, who was attending the meeting in Kama district. “I was knocked unconscious but when I opened my eyes there were bodies scattered all around the blast area,” he added.

Around 250 people were attending the election rally said Sohrab Qaderi, a member of the provincial council.

The election campaigning was done for the Oct. 20 parliamentary poll that began on Friday. As per Reuters, the security officials have warned of the danger of militant attacks during the campaigning.
