In a major crackdown, 14 insurgents were killed in several operations carried out by the Afghan National Army and National Directorate of Security (NDS) members around the country in the past 24 hours.
The operations were carried out in Laghman, Uruzgan, Helmand, Paktiya, Maidan Wardak and Nangarhar provinces.
"As a result 14 armed militants were killed, 10 were wounded and eight others were arrested by joint forces," Tolo News quoted the statement as saying.
The Afghan National Security Forces discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds of ammunition during these operations.
According to the statement, "The Ministry of Interior Affairs appreciates the Afghan National Security Forces operations to eliminate the terrorists' sanctuaries and it is a good step toward improving the security and stability."
