Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer eased past World no. 1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets on Sunday, 23 August, to lift his seventh Cincinnati Masters title.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion overcame Djokovic 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 in a thrilling summit clash that lasted one hour and 30 minutes.

Federer clinched the first set on a tie break and subsequently eased past the Serbian when the latter double faulted at break point in his first service game of the second set, the BBC reported.

With the win, Federer will head into the US Open as second seed and will seek his sixth title at Flushing Meadows, which starts from 31 August.
