Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa 9: Gaurav Gera aka Chutki leaves the show, blames wardrobe malfunction

Actor Gaurav Gera has become the first contestant to leave Colors' dance reality TV show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

This is the first eviction in the show, which features contestants like Arjun Bijlani, Shakti Arora, Helly Shah, Surveen Chawla, Karishma Tanna, Nora Fatehi, Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi and Sidhant Gupta.

The actor had participated in the show as Chutki, a character he plays in his popular show.

After his eviction, Gera told a news agency: "My foot got entangled with the skirt and throughout the performance I was conscious of the fact and kept wondering if I should continue or not as I was skeptic I might fall any minute."

When asked to discuss his experience on the show, he said:

"It is a good show to be a part of but definitely as a contestant it takes a lot of time. In a way my journey is over and I am happy that I had a great time but that's about it," Gaurav said.

During the season, Gera also made waves with his videos as chutki with judges Karan Johar, Jacqueline Fernandez and host, Manish Paul.

"I made some fantastic videos with Jacqueline, Karan and Manish. There were a lot of friends and I made videos with everyone (contestants) so I have my memories forever," he said.

When asked if he would have performed better had he not entered the show as Chutki, Gera said:

"No, had I gone as myself I would have been out sooner... After all the show is about dancing. Some are really good in those terms and the judges cannot really look through the fact. There are people who vote in the audience, they can see the performance. Going by that, I thought others are really good and well deserving so it is fair".

"As Gaurav it wouldn't have been as much fun, I would have either gone as shopkeepaa or chutki because it would also take my brand further. I want more people to be aware of what I do, I want more people to watch my videos because all my videos are quirky and you tend to like them slowly and steadily... we had plans to bring in Gauarv and shopkeepaa later... but I came out too early as after all it is a dancing show," he added.

When asked about his plans, the actor said he was working on "some web series, for which talks are on".
