Popular instant messaging service WhatsApp is expected to add some new features including a 'call back' option soon, which will allow users to return calls with just the tap of a button without opening the app.

The messaging service is also expected to bring voicemail feature to the iOS platform. With this feature, WhatsApp will allow users to record and send voicemails to their contacts.

Recently WhatsApp introduced the long awaited end-to-end encryption for all users and instant messaging and Voice over IP (VoIP) app for smartphones to protect texts and calls from 'interception'. The move came after the Apple vs FBI battle over iPhone encryption.

Based in Mountain View, California, WhatsApp Inc.was acquired by Facebook Inc. on 19 February, 2014, for approximately US $9.3 billion.

As of February 2016, WhatsApp had a user base of one billion, making it the most popular messaging application.
