American automobile and energy storage company Tesla has hired a top executive of Audi, Peter Hochholdinger, as the new vice-president of vehicle production.
Hochholdinger will be in-charge of production for the current vehicles - Model S and Model X - apart from the manufacturing programme of the newly-announced Model 3.
"Tesla is excited to have Peter join the team," the company said in a statement.
Tesla is known for its design, manufacturing, and retail market of electric cars, electric vehicle power train components, and battery products.
Chief executive officer of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, has said that he envisions Tesla Motors as an independent automaker, aimed at eventually offering electric cars at prices affordable to the average consumer.
