On 24 May, Anand Chandrasekaran, the Chief Product Officer of Snapdeal, announced that he is parting ways with the e-commerce marketplace to start his own entrepreneurial venture.

Chandrasekaran was brought on board in June last year to revamp the company's platform, especially mobile.

"Anand has done some stellar work on the product side at Snapdeal. His insights and attention to detail have helped us traverse quickly towards launching and improving products at Snapdeal," a Snapdeal spokesperson said.

Chandrasekaran co-founded Aeroprise, a personalised mobile applications software company, which was acquired by BMC Software Inc. in 2011.

Snapdeal co-founder Rohit Bansal tweeted: "@anandc proud of the super work by you and the product team. Hard to believe that this was just 1 yr. Farewell, keep rocking!"

In response, Chandrasekaran tweeted: "@rohitkbansal thanks for the support. We did in 1 what would take 3 years anywhere.

Incredible passion @snapdeal. Best still to come!"

Prior to becoming chief product officer at Snapdeal, Chandrasekaran held the same designation at Bharti Airtel. He has also served as senior director, search products, at Yahoo Inc.
