Samsung's Galaxy devices were in the news last year and not for any of the good reasons. The Galaxy Note 7 was blasting and it felt as if they were more of an explosive device than an electronic gadget. Samsung had its bad times and the electronics giant faced one of the world's largest losses in the registered in the history books.

Samsung lost its huge markets, the reliability of the brand came under the scanner. The social media, the newsprints and all the other media took note of the Galaxy Note 7 blasting and with the phones kept blasting the hard-earned image of the Samsung brand.

However, this time another famous and reliable device is in the news. This time the old sweet Nokia 5323 had a blast that cost a teenage girl from Kheriakani district of Odisha her life. She was speaking to a relative over the phone using the Nokia's old 5233 version.

“Uma, who was knocked unconscious and suffered injuries to her hand, leg and chest, was taken to a local hospital, where she died,” Metro reported.

HMD Global, the company that now owns the Nokia brand has sidelined itself from the incident as the device under question was not manufactured by them. “While we have not been able to independently verify the facts of any of these reports, we can confirm that the mobile phone in question was not manufactured or sold by HMD Global, the new home of Nokia phones, set up in 2017 to create a new range of Nokia devices,” a Nokia spokesperson told the Metro.

The official statement issued by the HMD Global said that the company is committed to manufacturing quality devices for their valuable customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety and security.

Surprisingly, the mobile phone is still sold on the online platform Amazon.in for Rs 2,999. The device is also available for the same price on the leading online platform Flipkart.com. Interestingly, there looms a question around that needs an answer and that is if HMD Global is to dissociate itself from incidents like these, who is actually responsible for the death?
