Internet search giant has paid a special tribute to late former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam by putting up a black ribbon on its homepage.

The ribbon is seen as a mark of respect and the effect that Kalam had on people across the world. He was very attached to children, youths and people belonging to small towns.

Google pays tribute to renowned personalities and icons through its characteristic doodles.

One can see the black ribbon placed below the search tab on google.co.in and when you hover the mouse over that ribbon, it reads "In memory of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam".

The last rites of the 'Missile Man' are being held in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu today, where all the eminent leaders have gathered to pay tribute to him.
