Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has been served a legal notice for his comments praising India during a press conference in Kolkata on Sunday, 13 March. An advocate from Lahore is reported to be behind the notice.
On Sunday, Afridi had said, "India mein humne humesha cricket enjoy kia, yahan ke logon se humein bahut pyar mila, itna pyar humein Pak mein bhi ni mila jitna yahan."
[I have always enjoyed cricket in India. I have always received a lot of love from the people here; even in Pakistan I haven't been this loved.]
His remarks didn't go down well with many in Pakistan, with even former national team captain Javed Miandad condemning Afridi on national television.
Afridi's remark also prompted a television anchor to curse the player live on air. "Watan ko bhoolne walon per laanat; tum jaise saare bawalon per laanat," he said.
[Shame and curse be on people who forget their nation. Shame and curse be upon people like you.]
