Popular Spanish club Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to two years in prison and fine of 18.8 million euro ($21.8 million) on Friday. He is accused of evading 14.7 million euros in taxes and he has reached a deal with Spanish tax authorities.

He isn't the first player to get in-prison, in the year 2017 Lionel Messi was sentenced to 21-month prison on similar charges. It was only after 2010 that tax exemption on players was lifted. Between 2005 and 2010, foreign players were protected under the so-called "Beckham law".
