Apple iPhone 4s, iPhone 5c bid adieu to India

Apple has finally decided to stop the sales of its iPhone 4s and iPhone 5c to improve its Average Selling Price (ASP) of the brand in the Indian market. The strategic move comes after the continuous falling demand of the ageing models of the US brand.

After getting a massive rate cut of over Rs 13,000 last year, the most popular product of Apple in India, iPhone 5s has started competing with its siblings - the iPhone 4s and iPhone 5c - in Rs 20,000 segment.

Now, after culling down the old models, the ASP will get a possible boost that will help raising the brand value of Apple in the market.

The iPhone 5c was available for Rs 19,000 while the iPhone 4s was priced at Rs 12,000. After the recent price cut, the iPhone 5s is now available at around Rs 21,000 in India.

According to an Economic Times report, the ASP of the brand in India has been increased after the launch of iPhone 6s series last year. The value may go up in second and third quarter of the present year as Apple is all set to launch its mid-range 4-inch screen smartphone in India.

The decision to put a full-stop on the sales of the two models may also be a hint at the impending launch of the small-screen phone.
