India's Vikas Krishan has punched his way into the quarterfinals of the men's 75kg category. He beat Turkey's Onder Sipal by unanimous decision. The bout was clearly dominated by the Indian. The set scores read 30-27, 29-28, 29-28. Krishan is now one win away from a guaranteed medal.

Krishan is the first Indian boxer to reach the quarterfinals of the Rio Games. Manoj Kumar is the other boxer still left. Kumar will later compete in the pre-quarters. Krishan will next face Uzbekistan's world championships silver medallist Bektemir Melikuziev in a bout that will be utterly competitive.

Krishan was the more aggresive of the two boxers and early on hit some clean punches on Sipal. He would avoid punches left right and centre.
