Rio 2016: India's Manish Singh 13th in men's 20km race walk; Ganapathi Krishnan and Gurmeet Singh disqualified

The Chinese dominated the 20km race walk with a 1-2 - Wang Zhen with gold and Cai Zelin with silver - finish. Australia's Dane Bird-Smith came third in a tightly contested race. India's had three competitors - Manish Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Ganapathi Krishnan - and only one finished the race.

India's Manish Singh, who was competing for an elusive medal for India at the Rio Olympics, made a respective 13th-place finish in the men's 20 km race walk ahead of the Olympic record holder, Ding Chen here in Pontal on Saturday. Manish Singh was setting the pace in the early stages, but he started falling behind at around 14-km mark to complete the race with a time of 1:21:21.

It was a race to forget for Gurmeet Singh and Ganapathi Krishnan. Singh was the first to be disqualified before the 6km mark. After three warnings - two for loss of contact and a third for a bent knee - he was disqualified. Krishnan, on the other hand, was disqualified just before the 10km mark. He received all three warnings for loss of contact.
