Indians continue to misfire with Heena Sidhu being the latest shooters to crash out of the Olympics. At the Rio Olympics on Tuesday, 9 August, Sidhu failed to advance in the women's 25m air pistol event. She finished in 20th position with a total score of 576. She needed to be in the top eight to have advanced to the semifinal round.

The qualifying round is where each shooter fires 60 shots. These 60 shots are divided 30 precision stage shots and 30 rapid fire stage shots that take place in six series of 10 shots each. She may have shot two 9s in a row to get her first series underway, but it wasn't enough. She faltered along the way and finished the precision stage with 286 points. In the rapid fire round, Sidhu scored 97, 97 and 96 in the three series, bringing her Rio campaign to an end.

Sidhu had earlier failed to progress in the 10m air pistol on Sunday, 8 August.
