When over 11,000 athletes from 206 countries and one refugee team from around the world come together to prove their mettle on the biggest stage known to sports, great feats and precious memories are the obvious leftovers. And, the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, proved no different.

For what will be remembered for the scandal as much as the excellence, the Rio Olympics witnessed tears, joy and laughter in equal measure. Amongst the personal bests and unbelievable firsts, the Games also stood witness to moments that made everyone go \'wow\'.

With the Summer Games drawn to a close, here\'s a look at some of the most memorable moments of the 2016 Olympics in photos.
