The official trailer of Mohanlal's upcoming thriller has witnessed a brilliant response from the critics and audience alike. The film, directed by B Unnikrishnan, will see the Malayalam superstar portraying the role of a retired cop named Mathew Manjooran. The film stars Manju Warrier in the female lead and will see the Malayalam acting debut of Tamil stars Vishal and Hansika Motwani and Telugu actors Srikanth and Raashi Khanna of Madras Cafe.

Apart from Mohanlal's screen presence, another factor that impressed the audience is the overall look of the film. Credit must be given to Rockline Venkatesh for backing a Malayalam film that can be compared to Bollywood thrillers. Villain is also the maiden Malayalam maiden venture of Rockline Venkatesh, who had produced Rajinikanth's Lingaa and Salman Khan blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan as well. The stupendous trailer response suggests that Rockline Venkatesh is all set for a grand debut in Malayalam cinema.
