Popular actor and the current hit machine of Tamil cinema finally revealed the main reason why he refused to make his acting debut in Malayalam. Interestingly, not many are aware that the talented actor was recently approached to star alongside superstar Mohanlal in Major Ravi's 2017 Vishu release, 1971: Beyond Borders.

In an interview to a Malayalam leading channel, Vijay Sethupathi revealed that he had received a phone call for 1971: Beyond Borders through a person close to director Major Ravi. But, the actor was busy with his other films and couldn't give dates for the Lalettan starrer.

Vijay Sethupathi didn't reveal which role he was offered in 1971: Beyond Borders. But we assume that the Vikram Vedha actor was approached for the role of Tamil Brahmin jawan, originally donned by Allu Sirish in the film.

However, Vijay Sethupathi's decision turned out be a good decision as 1971: Beyond Borders became the biggest Malayalam disaster of 2017.
