The much-awaited Naga Chaitanya film Premam is slated to hit screens soon. The Telugu film, which is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster Premam, is directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Initially, the makers had decided to name the film 'Majnu', but later dropped the plan and decided to stick with the original title -- Premam. The director's first film, Karthikeya, was a success in 2014.

Premam also stars Shruti Haasan, Madonna Sebastian, and Anupama Parameshwaran.

According to latest updates, the official teaser of Premam is slated to release on 11 June 2016. The makers are planning to release the official look on the occasion of Naga Chaitanya's parents -- Nagarjuna and Amala's wedding anniversary.

Naga Chaitanya will be seen in the role of Georje. Director Chandoo Mondeti is very confident that Naga Chaitanya will do full justice to the popular character, which was brilliantly portrayed by Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly in the original. Malayalam actresses Anupama Parameshwaran and Madonna Sebastian have been retained in the Telugu remake in their respective roles of Mary and Celine.

Shruti Haasan plays the much spoken about role of 'Malar Miss' in the Telugu remake. It needs to be seen whether the actress can recreate Sai Pallavi's magic in the original, as the character was a huge craze among youngsters when the film released.

Premam is slated to release on 12 August.
