The opening weekend collections of Mersal proves why Thalapathy Vijay is the most loved non-Malayalam actor in Kerala

Thalapathy Vijay's Diwali release Mersal has completed its 5-day opening weekend on a historical note at the Kerala Box Office. The action entertainer, which had released in Kerala on Wednesday, had set the Kerala Box Office on fire on its opening day itself.

Catch had previously reported that Mersal has emerged as the all-time highest second opener at the Kerala Box Office after SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2.

After clocking Rs. 6. 11 crore on its opening day, the Thalapathy starrer continued its dominance throughout the opening weekend. Mersal crossed the Rs. 10 crore mark in three theatrical days and gained the same momentum on Saturday and Sunday as well. At the end of 5-day opening weekend, Mersal has grossed a massive Rs. 14.25 crore to become the biggest non-Malayalam opener at the Kerala Box Office. The Vijay starrer also surpassed the life time collections of highest Bollywood grosser, Dangal in its opening weekend as well.

Looking at the early trends, Mersal has every chances to become the highest non-Malayalam grosser by beating Shankar - Vikram's 'I'. The terrific opening weekend of Mersal proves why Thalapathy Vijay is the most loved non-Malayalam actor in Kerala.
