Thalapathy Vijay scripts a new record. The Tamil superstar's Diwali release has crossed the coveted Rs. 250 crore mark at the Box Office worldwide. Directed by Atlee and written by KV Vijayendra Prasad of Baahubali series and Bajrangi Bhaijaan fame, the action entertainer starred Thalapathy Vijay in triple roles.

On its opening day itself, Mersal had set the Box Office on fire by raking in nearly Rs. 43.50 crore from the worldwide Box Office. In US, Mersal took a bigger opening than Aamir Khan's Dangal and Shah Rukh Khan's Raees.

And now, Mersal has crossed the magical Rs. 250 crore mark at the Box Office worldwide. The film already emerged as the biggest hit of Thalapathy Vijay's career and is the fifth South Indian film to achieve this milestone after the Baahubali series, and Rajinikanth blockbusters Kabali and Enthiran.

It's a huge personal victory for Thalapathy Vijay as well as the actor had to face lot of controversies due to the GST dialogues in the film. Several BJP leaders slammed him for speaking against GST including H Raja, a national secretary of the BJP and Tamil Nadu leader claimed that Vijay hates PM Modi because he is christian.
