Tamil Nadu box office: Tamil version of Mohanlal's Pulimurugan opened to good response

The Tamil dubbed version of Malayalam actor Mohanlal's 2016 blockbuster Pulimurugan released today. The action entertainer, which had released in Kerala on October 7, 2016, as Dusshera release, has been directed by Vysakh and produced by Tomichan Mulakkupadam.

Much to the delight of Lalettan fans in Tamil Nadu, the Tamil version of Pulimurugan has opened to good response at the Tamil Nadu box office. The film has released simultaneously in 2D and 3D versions in a huge number of 305 screens. It's a very good release considering that the original Malayalam version had released in 220 screens across Kerala.

Upon its release, Pulimurugan emerged as the first Rs. 100 crore grosser of Malayalam cinema. The action entertainer, which had ran over 200 theatrical days last week has already minted Rs. 150 crore worldwide. Similar to Pulimurugan, it's Telugu dubbed version, Manyam Puli too was a Box Office Blockbuster.

Pulimurugan starred Mohanlal in the titular role of a hunter, Murugan. The film also starred Telugu actor Jagapati Babu, Bengali actress Kamalini Mukherjee, Namitha, Vinu Mohan, and Lal.
