Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram's Spirit of Chennai song featuring top celebrities from various film industries of India was released today. The eleven-minute and fifty six-second track was produced and directed by Vikram as a tribute to the volunteers who selflessly helped during the rescue operations after floods paralysed Chennai last year.

North Tamil Nadu and Chennai were hit by terrible floods early December 2015, which killed more than 250 people and led to several people becoming homeless. Crores worth of public and private property was damaged during the natural disaster.

But the unity displayed by the people of Chennai was visible throughout the incident: people extended all kinds of help to each other during the aftermath of the calamity.

The Spirit of Chennai song has been composed by C Girinandh. Sung by noted singers including Shakthishree Gopalan and Chinmayi it also features stars like Suriya, Arya, Vishal, Jayam Ravi, Prabhu Deva, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Charmi, and Bobby Simha. The tribute song also had stars from other cinema industries like Prithviraj, Nivin Pauly, Prabhas, Amala Paul, Ram Charan Teja, Puneeth Rajkumar, Yash, and Nani.

The song was released on Monday evening at 5.30 pm and has already gone viral across social networks.
