Mohanlal fans have a reason to rejoice as the actor's 1995 iconic hit Spadikam is slated to re-release soon. Directed by Bhadran and produced by R Mohan, the film was released on March 30, 1995. Spadikam was touted as the first out and out mass entertainer of Malayalam cinema. The film also starred late Malayalam actor Thilakan, Urvashi, Spadikam George, Silk Smitha and Chippy.

Mohanlal portrayed the iconic character of Thomas Chacko, a young man who becomes a village Rowdy Aadu Thoma due to his father’s arrogant behaviour.

After a long-22-year-gap, the Mohanlal blockbuster is set to be re-release soon on Mohanlal's birthday, on May 21. The film will be re-released at Issac Theatre, Muvattupuzha and the booking has already started for the show that will open with a 7:30 AM show.

Upon its release, Spadikam had run over 225 theatrical-days across the cinemas. The film went on to bag the fifth Best Actor award for the Malayalam superstar at Kerala State Film awards and Filmfare Awards South respectively.

Spadikam was later remade in three languages: Tamil, Telugu and Kannada
